As time goes on, there is a large burden hanging over the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen with Schalke yet to clinch a Bundesliga title since 1963.

It’s an enormous hurdle for one of the biggest clubs in Germany and whenever The Royal Blues look close to securing their historic league win, the pressure seems too much.

Schalke have held their own in German football, have one of the best stadiums in the country and are bankrolled in the transfer market by Russian gas giants Gazprom.

The likes of Ebbe Sand and Kevin Kuranyi will be fondly remembered by the supporters as some of Die Konigsblauen’s best-ever strikers in the Bundesliga.
