Neuer and Rafinha join Bayern

BAYERN MUNICH have confirmed the signings of Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and Genoa defender Rafinha.

Neuer completes an €18m move from Gelsenkirchen after weeks of discussions following Die Konigsblauen’s DFB Pokal triumph in May.

The goalkeeper has signed a five-year deal at the Allianz Arena and the fee could rise another €7m due to clauses on the agreed contract.

Neuer told the official FC Bayern website: “I’m really looking forward to the great and exciting challenge for Bayern,

“Many colleagues from the national team are now my team-mates in Munich. So I will not enter a new territory and I settle in quickly. ”

Karl Heinz Rummenigge insists Bayern have signed one of the best keepers in World Football.

He added: “FC Bayern is very happy long-term commitment to Manuel Neuer, not only the number one German national team, but also one of the world’s best goalkeeper to have.”

At Schalke, sporting director Horst Heldt believes accepting the Neuer deal was the best move for the club as they hunt for a replacement.

Heldt said: “However, we have now finally decided to accept the offer from FC Bayern Munich, because it is under the given circumstances the best solution for Schalke 04.

“We also have also have met Manuel’s desire to change as early as this summer. ”

Brazilian full-back Rafinha signed a three-year deal with FC Bayern and is looking forward to a second spell in the Bundesliga after spending five years with Schalke.

He told the official website: “I am delighted that the change has worked in Munich and I can play again in the Bundesliga,

“With Bayern I can finally win the title, which are left to me so far failed. Here I can play against the best teams and best players in the world, I am very happy. ”

FC Bayern’s sporting director Christian Nerlinger welcomed the signing of Rafinha who will wear the No.13 jersey next season.

Nerlinger said: “With Rafinha we have undertaken a seasoned and experienced player who give our defense added stability and help us play.

“We are very happy that we were with him some and Genoa over a move to Munich.”
